Continuing education for New York State licensed social workers — clinically grounded, and built to help clinicians keep growing as people, not just as practitioners.
We use the word clinician on purpose. It includes social workers, psychoanalysts, psychologists, counselors, creative arts therapists, and anyone who does this work — not only those who call themselves therapists.

Our Story
We met in 2007 while studying at a psychoanalytic institute in New York City, and we've been in a peer supervision group together ever since. That ongoing conversation has shaped how we think about clinical work and about teaching — less as lectures to deliver and more as something to build together, out loud, with other clinicians in the room. Over the years we've watched each other grow, challenged each other's assumptions, and stayed curious about what we still don't know.
Both of us came to therapy from teaching, and pedagogy still runs through everything we do. Before becoming clinicians we worked in education settings, and we bring that sensibility to every course — caring about how people learn, not just what they learn, and designing experiences that respect the intelligence and experience of the people in the room. We keep finding ways to expand ourselves as people and as clinicians, because we believe a clinician who is still growing does better work.
We're also part of a Creativity Salon — a group started by Susie and based in Brooklyn — where we explore what it means to stay curious, make things, and keep growing beyond the clinical. That creative practice isn't separate from our clinical work; it feeds it. When clinicians make room for creativity in their own lives, they bring more flexibility, more imagination, and more of themselves to the people they serve.
The Clinician Development Lab grew out of all of this: the psychoanalytic training, the supervision, the teaching, the creative practice, and the belief that clinicians do their best work when they're supported, resourced, and free to grow — clinically and creatively. We built the Lab to be the kind of continuing education we wish we'd had: small, interactive, and rooted in real practice rather than a box to check.
How We Teach
Our courses are live and small-group, not recorded lectures you watch alone. We keep enrollment limited so there's room for real discussion, case examples from participants, and the kind of back-and-forth that makes ideas stick. We draw on psychoanalytic thinking but bring in other modalities — IFS, somatic work, EMDR, EFT — because no single framework fits every client or every clinician.
We also believe that continuing education shouldn't feel like a chore. Our courses are designed to be genuinely engaging — the kind of experience that leaves you thinking differently when you go back to your office on Monday morning, not just with a few new vocabulary words but with a renewed sense of curiosity about the work.
Meet the Co-Directors
Susie Greenebaum, LCSW, MS Ed
Co-Director
Clinical social worker, certified psychoanalyst, and educator. Susie maintains a private practice and teaches social workers and other candidates at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center, where she was formerly Co-Dean of Faculty. She has studied Internal Family Systems and Somatic Experiencing, and her work is also influenced by Buddhism and mindfulness, both of which she integrates into her clinical practice.
Before becoming a clinician, Susie taught in education settings, and that background still shapes how she designs courses — with attention to how adults actually learn, not just what gets covered. She founded the Creativity Salon in Brooklyn as a space for clinicians to make things, take creative risks, and stay curious outside the consulting room.
Ruth Wyatt, LCSW-R, MA
Co-Director
Clinical social worker and certified psychoanalyst. Ruth has a private practice and teaches social workers and other candidates at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center. She is trained in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy, and is co-director and instructor at PPSC's Child and Adolescent Therapy Training Program.
Ruth also came to therapy from teaching, and she cares deeply about pedagogy — creating learning experiences that are rigorous without being stiff, and practical without losing depth. Her work with children, adolescents, and families informs a developmental lens she brings to every course she teaches.
